The Fix Up Kendall Ryan ebook cover

SYNOPSIS

From New York Times Bestseller, Kendall Ryan, comes a sexy new standalone novel.

My tempting, and very alpha friend Sterling Quinn is someone I consider off-limits.

It's not just that we're friends, he's also a cocky, confident, and British, which means he's a walking aphrodisiac.

But lately he's been giving me the look. You know the one. When he thinks I'm not paying attention, and his gaze lingers for too long.

And then we start working together, and that's when the sexual tension between us gets so thick, I want to hack through it with a machete. I want to make all these deep feelings I've harbored for him disappear, because there's no way this can end well.

The lines between business and pleasure become irrevocably blurred, and I'm stuck between a rock, and Sterling's very, very hard place.

Rather than keep a level head about our growing attraction, Sterling wants to go all in, showing me just how explosive we can be together.

But I've been around long enough to know that this British bad boy is more than my heart can handle. I'm not about to be cast aside like yesterday's underwear when he's done having fun.

Sterling’s never been told no, and he's not about to put his ego aside and play by my rules. But I never thought he'd fight so dirty.

*This is a spin-off from the HITCHED series, but can be read as a standalone.

Her life changed in an instant.
And he's the only one who could have prevented it.
From the New York Times bestselling author of The Pact and The Lie comes a new standalone contemporary romance about those McGregor men.
Jessica Charles shouldn't have even been in London when the unthinkable happened.
She should have been back at home in Edinburgh, perhaps hanging with her boyfriend, having drinks with her sister or doing yoga with her group of friends. She should have been going on in her normal, dependable life as always.
But on that fateful day in August, when a mentally-ill ex-soldier opened fire in public, Jessica's world changed forever.
Now single and crippled from the gunshot wounds, Jessica finds herself scared and alone, losing faith in herself and humanity with each agonizing moment that passes.
That is until a stranger enters her life. A stranger who makes her live again.
Keir McGregor has always been the strong, silent type. Throw in tall, dark, and handsome and you've got pretty much the perfect Scotsman.
Except Keir is anything but perfect. He's got a past he's running away from and a guilty conscience he can't seem to shed. But the more time he spends with Jessica, the more he falls in love with her.
And the more his secret threatens to tear them apart.
He may have been a stranger to her.
But she’s never been a stranger to him.

The Debt 2

Excerpt

“You’re not going anywhere,” he says. “Sit. I’ll get you another drink.”

“It’s getting late,” I say feebly but I sit down anyway, my leg giving a protest of pain.

“You need something for that?” he says, noticing my wince.

“The scotch will do fine,” I tell him quickly, not wanting him to make a fuss. “But really, I should go.”

“Why?” he asks from the kitchen. I hear the top pop off the bottle, the slosh of liquid in the glass. “Where do you have to be?”

I have to think about that for a moment. He comes over and holds out the glass. “I won’t keep you here if you don’t want to be here. But if you do want to be here, you don’t need to make any excuses.”

I take the glass from him, holding it delicately in my fingers. He stands over me, a massive wall, waiting for some kind of response.

“I just…” I begin. “I…” I take a sip for bravery. Swallow. “I’m not very good at this.”

“Good at what?”

“At…this. Being with a man.”

When he doesn’t say anything to that, I look up at him. He’s got a peculiar smile on his face, his brows raised. “You call this being with a man?”

I clear my throat, feeling my cheeks grow hot. “I mean. I’ve told you before –”

“Yes, how you don’t do relationships, how you don’t do sex.”

“I never said I don’t do sex,” I remind him quickly.

His eyes never stop searching my face. “Then what is it? What are you afraid to say?”

I have the sudden urge to flee and I know it must show because he suddenly points at me and says, “Don’t you dare say you have to go again. I want you to go back to what you said, that you’re not good at this. What is this? Us? You and me? There’s nothing mystifying about you and me, Jessica. You know quite well how I feel.”

I stare at him in shock. I do? “How?”

He looks off with an air of impatience. “I invited you to dinner, you turned me down.”

“But then you said just as friends.”

“And I meant it. But there are different types of friends. It’s up to you to decide what kind we are.”

I put my drink down with a clunk. “Holy pressure.” And now it’s not just my face going hot but my entire body, flushed from head to toe.

“You’re on fire, little red,” he says, his gaze skirting over my limbs in such a hungry way I can almost feel them on my skin. “I have to say, I like this look on you. Hot and bothered.”

“Back with the innuendos again,” I comment but my voice is weak.

“No, no innuendos this time. You came looking for me tonight not because you wanted to confess but because you want something from me. What is it? What do you want from me? What do you think I can give you?”

Jesus. This is so utterly unnerving. His words slice right through me, his eyes still peeling under the layers, trying to get at something I’m not even sure of myself.

If I lie, he’ll know. I can only be honest with him.

“I want…” I take in a deep breath, my eyes breaking away. “I want…company.”

“Company?” He sounds surprised.

I nod. “That’s the truth. I’m lonely. And I’m afraid. And I’m tired of being both those things. I want to be with someone who makes me forget who I am. You make me feel fearless in a way I didn’t think possible.”

There. That’s the truth. Most of it. It hangs in the air, thickening the tension like flour to stock.

He sits down next to me, has a mouthful of Scotch. “Wow,” he says, running his hand over the beard on his jaw. “And here I was thinking you wanted my cock.”

I burst out laughing. So does he, a big wonderful bellow. The tension in the room eases up a notch.

“Sorry,” I tell him when I catch my breath. “I guess they can both mean the same thing.”

He sucks in his lip briefly, his eyes taking a lustful turn. “If you want it to.” We stare at each other for a few heavy beats. Then his focus trails back to my gaze and he says, “Why don’t you stay over?”

And there I have it. The chance to know what those full lips would feel like on mine, what his skin would taste like. I swallow hard.

Imagine you go about your day, thinking nothing about the things you usually do. You go to work, go for a beer, you think shopping is what you want to do right now and all of sudden your life changes. In the blink of an eye you are thrown into chaos. This is what happens to Jessica in Karina Halle's new installement of her MacGregor men.

Jessica is the victim of a terrorist attack. Not a terrorist from abroad but one of her own. A terrorist who used to fight for the country she lives in, yet something must have shifted, because he just goes ahead and shoots people in the middle of London's Oxford Street. Jessica survives the attack but is left with a mangled leg and a huge case of survivors guilt. The survivor in her knows that she needs help so she finds a support group of people who live with PTSD. After one of her meetings she goes to a pub where she meets Keir MacGregor. The attraction is instant but she has no business to burden somebody with her messed up life.

Keir has been living with guilt too. He is the reason why Jesscia was shot. His only thought surrounding the attack on Oxford Street is "if only I had said something...". He wants to make it up to the beauty he doesn't exactly meet by chance. The more often he sees her, though, the deeper he falls for her brave heart and her strength. There is only one problem...how can he tell her that he is guilty for her to be shot in the first place?

Karina Halle gives us again two completely damaged and flawed souls who both have to face their own demons to receive absolution. They don't realize that they have to forgive themselves before they can gain it from somebody else. Jessica is incredibly strong and her way to healing is hard and stony. Keir is the person who holds her hand along the way but doesn't let her pity herself too much and gets her out of her head if things get too intense. He is sweet, careful and tender with her, her wellbeing and feelings are always put above his own. I loved this about him. He treats her with reverence, as if she were a delicate flower, yet he knows that she has immense strength.

Each of them is brave in their own way and while Keir thinks he is bound to lose his girl if he reveals his role in her tragedy he still does everything to soften the blow and doesn't give up to help Jessica heal and find a footing in life again.

This story is about forgiving yourself, even if there is nothing to forgive. The slow burn between Keir and Jessica was all kinds of sweet and sexy. The development of their relationship was absolutely plausible, their way to salvation emotional and intense.

Karina Halle's MacGregor men are always alpha but also always swoonworthy and sweet. I have read all of them (except Brigs, I'm sorry Karina, but he'll follow soon) and each and everytime I was swept off my feet by them. Not only is Ms. Halle a master of character driven stories she also has an incredible talent for making the Scottish landscape appear in your mind with her vivid description. I am pretty sure that this is not the last we've heard about them and I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

For Better or Worse

The Wedding Belles #2

by

Lauren Layne

When I requested this book to review I was a little bit nervous since the first full novel in the series wasn't a complete winner for me. Lauren Layne is generally a go-to author for me when I need a low-angst read and To Have and To Hold really didn't do it for me. So I grabbed this and dug in. The rest is history. Ladies and...well, ladies, we have a new favorite.

Heather is an assistant wedding planer who we met in the previous installments of this series. She strives to become a full-on wedding planer. The wedding her boss and friend Alexis is giving her to prove herself is high profile and everything she ever dreamed of. When she moves into her new posh New York City address her first run-in with her unruly next-door neighbor is everything but pleasant. When he kisses her to shut her up she is outraged. And a tiny little bit tempted.

Josh used to be a hedge fund manager. He embraced his job despite it being stressful, after all it also came with a lot of money. A grave diagnosis  makes him reconsider his life and the changes he makes are supposed to make him happy. Josh loves music, he is good with instruments - starting a band has been giving him exactly what he wanted, right? But something is missing...

No amount of money could help you out when fate picked you as one of her victims, as she'd done to Josh.

When his new neighbor knocks on his door late at night, demanding for him to stop the noise he is amused by the firecracker standing in front of him. After his illness Josh doesn't do relationships - living in the moment is kind of a relationship-killer. How can he burden somebody with the prospect of losing him? But damn if Heather doesn't tempt him to get into her pants. What he isn't prepared for though is that Heather will give him a run for his money. Their friendship soon turns into one with benefits.

The woman was annoying, yes, but ashe was also...interesting. And despite all those badass walls she tried to put up, he'd bet his guitar that there was a sweetheart hiding benath all the curls and sass.

Heather is such a wonderful heroine. She started out rather bitchy, but who can blame her when she runs on little sleep, a lot of caffeine and tons of work. Soon she finds herself charmed by her new neighbor and they become friends. There is always a sexual tension between these two but the friendship aspect is just as present and I loved how they started building on that. Heather is hardworking, sweet yet feisty and independent.

Josh is the "OMG"-kind. He is cheeky, has a fantastic sense of humor and although he is a manwhore the good man in him shines through throughout the story. His seemingly careless attitude belies his demons which are only waiting to make an appearance. He is always there for Heather, helps her out when she needs him.

"Damned if I don't like you a little bit, 4C, especially when you're all pissy and shit."

This story has a bucket load of witty LL-signature banter and hilarious quips and comebacks. I was mostly in public when I read this story so a lot of people heard me laughing about the things that come out of Josh's mouth. There is a lot of reference to banana bread and it never got old. The chemistry between our two main characters is steamy and to me they are a pair made in heaven. Big love.

"Morning, 4C. Aren't you pretty in the morning. And by pretty I mean your hair is enormous."

Lauren Layne taps into a serious topic yet it never outweighs the lightheartedness of the story. This book was everything from charming to enthralling, sexy, hot and sweet and this time around I was left completely satisfied and I look forward to the things LL has in store for Alexis and Logan.

"Yup. You're a cancer survivor, but you're not being one of the cool ones who keeps on trucking, saving your "I beat it" flag and taking on the world. You're one of the scared ones who's letting it beat you. Not phyiscally, but mentally and emotionally. The leukemia is whipping your ass. "

Womanizer

by

Katy Evans

Series: Manwhore #5
Release Date: December 5th, 2016
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis:

You've seen the headlines: Womanizing billionaire player! Watch out! Stay away!
We were just two strangers. Facing a forbidden attraction, a chemical connection. Neither of us expected or wanted it to amount to more.
But I had never been drawn to a guy the way I was drawn to this one: my brother's best friend, and CEO of the company where I interned.
Even knowing I should stay away, I proved to be too human, after all.
The chemistry was amazing.
The laughs were incredible.
I opened up to him in more ways than I'd opened up to anyone before.
But sex was as far as I'd go.
Just sex because he was too irresistible.
Just sex because I wouldn't be falling for him.
Just sex because I'd leave in three months, and I'd like for my brother not to kill me, and for nobody to find out he was my wicked little secret.
He wasn't the One.
He was just a womanizer.
But for a time, he would be mine.

Shadow Falling

The Scorpius Syndrome #2

by

Rebecca Zanetti

While reading this series I have been asking myself repeatedly what I would do if I was a survivor of an infection that killed most poeople in your country. Living in a world in which you have to fight every single day for your survival can bring out the worst but also the best in people. I hope that I would still be a good person but who knows...

This installment starts where we left off. After her rescue by the Vanguards from the president's insane torture Vinnie thinks she is crazy. Hearing voices is only one of her problems. Vinnie was a profiler with the FBI's BAU. Jax Mercury, leader of the Vanguards, sees the potential benefit his vigilante group can gain from having a psychologically trained specialist. She is asked to use her professional skillset to profile and shrink the emotionally shaken community and Vinnie is happy to oblige, her desire is to belong.

Raze Shadow is a soldier, through and through. His ulterior motives for joining the Vanguards are his secrets and he will keep them as long as he can. When this blonde and beautiful and slightly crazy firecracker sweeps into his life his plans take a major hit. Vinnie is a huge part of them but falling for her is not. Yet, with every day his need to protect her grows. The camaraderie he feels with this fellow soldiers adds to the remorse he feels because he will betray everything and everyone he starts to care about.

Vinnie is an endearing heroine with a strong will and a sweet that reels you in from the start. Since her captivity she has lost the filter for her mouth and blurts out the funniest things. Having said that, I'm still not entirely clear if it makes sense for somebody as educated as this heroine to sometimes say partially inane things. She showed strength for the most part but in some situations she seemed a little to eager to forget about the brutish things Raze does to her. One moment she was super-pissed, the next it was pretty much off the table. Still, her quirkiness and dorkiness make Vinnie a lovable heroine.

Raze is a badass. His protective and possessive streak when it comes to his woman sometimes border on brutish and chauvinistic. Although he knows he will betray his friends he tries to do everything to help them until he can't any longer. I loved this about him. What I didn't get is why he held on for so long to his secrets. Jax is a fellow soldier and being open about his mission would have gone a long way to gain his friends' trust and support. I know that it needed to go that way to build up the tension between the chacracters but I think it just went on too long. Having said that, once things were out in the open Jax and his people really came through.

The story developed a little slower than I would have liked in the first half, when it picked up it was all drama and action and suspense. There were some eyeroll moments about some situations I didn't quite get, like, why would nobody notice a fence being erected by an outsider group within Vanguards when the area is being patrolled around the clock? They also made off with essential supplies and nobody sees it?

All together this was still an extremely enjoyable, action-packed and thrilling read. The badassry of the Vanguard soldiers, although sometimes a bit OTT, is hot and makes for some hilarious moments. The chemistry between our two main characters is scorching and the story certainly doesn't lack in the sex department. Yummay is all I say. The relationship development might have been a liiiiittle bit too insta. Then again, who knows what our hormones would do if our survival was highly questionable.

We get to meet all the side characters from book 1 and are also introduced to some new ones who we will find again in their own story, I'm sure. Next up is Tace's and Sami's story and I can't wait to see what Rebecca Zanetti has for those two in store!

Note: I'm sorry I'm not posting any quotes or teaser pics, I'm on vacation so time is a little bit limited ;)

Reeling from her loss, Kacey Dawson is grieving and heartbroken, her addictive demons hauling her back into the alcohol-soaked abyss she worked so hard to crawl out of.  She teeters on the edge of oblivion, and must fight her way through the pain, to build a new life for herself with her music, and somehow fulfill the promise she made to Jonah…one she feels is impossible to keep.

Theo Fletcher has a secret burning in his heart, one that he holds close, while he struggles to keep strong for his family that is falling apart. His mother’s health is fragile and his father’s disapproval is breaking him down. Theo is afraid if he follows his heart, he’ll fail, and not just himself, but his brother who believed in him when no one else did.

Drawn together by their pain, Theo and Kacey slowly build a friendship, re-forge old ties, help each other to heal, and give one another the courage to reach for their dreams. Together, from the depths of grief and guilt, they learn to laugh again, to trust again, and quite possibly find something beautiful and lasting amid the shattered pieces of their broken hearts.

Bad JUD Cover Front

He’s so arrogant.

She’s so self-righteous.

I can’t stand him.

I want her.

He’s a distraction I don’t need.

She’ll say yes eventually because I’m not giving up.

Justine Porter is stuck between a rock and a stripper pole. She lost her law school scholarship, which means she has two choices to keep her life on track: strip for her tuition or tutor the most distractingly sexy guy in her class—the one she’s been turning down for two years straight. It should be an easy choice, but tutoring Ryker Grant could derail her plans to graduate with honors faster than two-for-one night at the Déjà Vu. Then again, topless has never really been her color.
She could take the easy road, just this once . . . but the deal has enough loopholes to trip anyone up.
Who knew they taught bad judgment in law school?

Meghan March has been known to wear camo face paint and tromp around in woods wearing mud-covered boots, all while sporting a perfect manicure. She's also impulsive, easily entertained, and absolutely unapologetic about the fact that she loves to read and write smut. Her past lives include slinging auto parts, selling lingerie, making custom jewelry, and practicing corporate law. Writing books about dirty talking alpha males and the strong, sassy women who bring them to their knees is by far the most fabulous job she's ever had.
